The Art of Happy Mail 💌
The Art of Happy Mail 💌
I've been writing letters for over 20 years. Growing up, I corresponded regularly with my Mormor, Aunt Margareta, Aunt Martha Jane, Grandma, & Grandpa by way of snail mail.
✨
I love sending mail to my penpals - & I love opening my mailbox to find letters from my friends & family. It's like a ray of sunshine & brightens even the gloomiest of days!
✨
Reminders for writing letters
I know a lot of us want to write more mail &/also get stuck because we feel intimidated BUT sending mail doesn't have to be scary! I want to remind you that…
💞 Snail mail is on your schedule! You don't have to write weekly or monthly or consistently (unless you want to).
💗 Your handwriting is good enough. It doesn't have to be beautiful but try to aim for legible!
💕 Typing letters is perfectly okay too! If writing by hand hurts too much &/or typing is more accessible, try typing & printing out your letters.
💘 Don't know what to say? Here are some ideas. Something you're looking forward to ✨ A hot take or unpopular opinion ✨ What you've working on ✨ 3 things that have made you happy this week ✨ Something you're excited about ✨ 2 things you've been enjoying ✨ Share a book recommendation ✨ Share a movie recommendation ✨ Ask questions! ✨ Not feeling any of these? Google “penpal prompts.”
💖 Whatever you send is perfect because it will brighten the recipient's day. Pinky promise!
New zine: The Art of Happy Mail
Speaking of snail mail, I made a new zine on exactly this! THE ART OF HAPPY MAIL is a zine covering topics like finding penpals, what to write about, encouragement for writing more mail, things you can mail with your letter, tools & supplies, & book + zine recommendations for further reading. Available in both print & as a digital download (pdf) for reading on your phone or computer!
Do you write letters? If not, what’s holding you back?
